Big 3 After WR From The Muck
September 9, 2008 by Luke Stampini
The Muck has produced so many talented football players over the years, too many to name. Coaches from across the country make their way to this football hotbed trying to convince kids to sign with their school. SoFLAfootball learned this afternoon that an up and coming star from Pahokee received official offers from Miami, Florida, and Florida State Monday.
Talented 2010 wide receiver De’Joshua Johnson is the prospect the Big 3 are all vying for. Johnson boasts a 4.38 forty and as he puts it, “I can change the game at any second.”
Change the game is right, as Johnson is a touchdown waiting to happen. Johnson is extremely raw as a receiver now, but you cannot teach the burst he shows on the football field. Look for Johnson to improve his technique as he gets more games under his belt this season. Johnson saw limited action last fall as a sophomore playing behind Michigan freshman Martavious Odoms, Marshall freshman Antavious Wilson and current teammate and Florida commit Nu’Keese Richardson.
“I need to get bigger and learn the fundamentals of the position,” commented Johnson.
The 5-foot-10, 150-pound Johnson feels West Virginia is close to offering as well. Johnson also mentioned a favorite.
“Florida State is leading the pack right now. I talk to (running back)Antone Smith (from Pahokee) and I’ve also been talking to (wide receiver) Preston Paker. They tell me it’s a good place to be, some really spirited football, and it’s really a brotherhood once you join the team, everyone has your back,” said Johnson.
Johnson stated that he may announce his decision sometime this spring. The Pahokee Blue Devils, along with Johnson, host King’s Academy this Friday night.
