Brandon Gainer Has Offers

SoFLAfootball has discussed how loaded the 2010 class is with talented running back prospects. Miami Central’s Brandon Gainer is one of those top running back prospects. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Gainer claims offers from Auburn and FIU currently.

A long list of universities have also been in contact with the powerful Dade County back including Rutgers, UCF, Wisconsin, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State and LSU. Gainer discussed what he would like in a program, with more offers sure to come his way.

“I’d like to go to a balance offense, a tough defense to help me in practice so I can get better, and the chance to play my freshman year,” said Gainer.

After receiving an offer from hometown FIU and interest from state schools, UCF and Florida State, how important is it for Gainer to stay in state?

“It doesn’t really matter, but it would be nice,” said Gainer.

Gainer has been clocked at 4.49 seconds in the forty, and is currently inching closer to the ideal size for a running back at the next level. Gainer has a very developed upper and appears to be ready to take the pounding running backs take in college. He has good vision and changes directions fairly well for someone of his size. One knock Gainer may have, is that extra gear top running backs can turn to in a pinch.

Gainer’s Miami Central squad came into the season with high hopes and many believed they were one of the top teams in Dade. That notion was quickly shattered when the Rockets started the season 0-3 on the season. Since the rough start the Rockets have ran off four straight victories by a combined score of 156-12.

“The first 3 weeks we started a little big headed, I can admit that,” said Gainer. “The first 3 weeks really opened up our eyes. The next four we really came together and focused.”

This Thursday the Rockets look to make it 5 in a row when they take on Hialeah-Miami Lakes, before a Halloween night showdown with Miami Northwestern in two weeks. Gainer offered this piece of advice to fans on the game against the mighty Bulls.

“You just got to be there to watch it, that’s all I can say about that.”
