Brooks to Visit ‘Noles

Talented defensive tackles are always tough to find, but Palmetto is the home of one in the 2010 class that is seeing his recruitment pick up in the waning weeks until signing day. At 6-foot-3, 285-pounds Jermaine Brooks has the size to help plug up the middle of a defense. Watch him move from defensive end to defensive tackle to nose guard in the varying defensive formations Palmetto utilized this fall and it is easy to see the versatility Brooks brings to the defensive line. That combination of size and versatility were enough for one in-state school to bring Brooks up on a visit in the near future.

“I’m fixing to visit Florida State the 23rd or the 16th on an official visit,” said Brooks. “It’s going to be one of those weekends.”

The trip to Tallahassee will not be the first for Brooks, as he took in a game when Maryland came to town to play the Seminoles back in November.

“I like it, I liked everything up there, the weight room, the facilities all of that.”

The big defensive tackle does not have an offer from Florida State to date, but according to Brooks one may be on its way.

“They are talking about offering, if they offer I will probably commit. I went up there the first time for an unofficial and all the coaches liked me. They said when I come up for my official they will probably give me an offer, so we will see when I go up there.”

Wisconsin and FAMU are two other schools Brooks is hearing from. Before the holiday break he had a long talk with one of the Badger assistant coaches.

“The defensive coordinator came by the other week and I had a meeting with him for like an hour. They said they are waiting for my ACT scores and when I get a 17 they will give me an offer.”

Brooks just recently took the ACT and should be receiving his score sometime this week. Brooks is also taking part in the Public vs. Private All-Star Game January 9 kicking off at 6:30 from Monsignor Pace High School.
