Clark is a Triple Threat
July 23, 2009 by Luke Stampini
Robert Clark is a speedy prospect for Dwyer that rarely comes off the field. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder returns kicks on special teams along with playing cornerback and receiver. Clark is an effective player at each position.
“Kick return is my favorite of all,” said Clark. “I like playing kick return because I can see everything in front of me, so I just try to get to the hole as quick as I can. Cornerback I like a lot because it takes a lot of skills to play cornerback. It’s one of the hardest positions to play on the field because you are sticking man to man. Receiver I like going deep. I like going right past defenders for the ball.”
Clark has a long list of offers including Wisconsin, West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, Purdue, Iowa State, and USF. The 2010 prospect talked what position schools are recruiting him to play.
“Half of my schools are looking at me on offense, half of my schools are looking at me on defense, but when I go to school I think I want to play defense.”
Clark claimed Louisville, South Florida and West Virginia were the schools recruiting him the hardest, but he would not claim any favorites just yet.
“Right now, I don’t have a favorite, but coming up soon I might start picking a top five, top three or top two,” explained Clark. “I graduate early so I can’t really wait. I graduate in December so I’ll decide sometime during the season.”
This off-season Clark has dedicated himself to improving his on the field production in hopes of helping Dwyer win a state championship.
“My goal is to just work as hard as I can right now to win state. At first, I wasn’t a morning person, but now I get up on my own around 6 o’clock and do some routes, do my DB drills, and stuff like that. . . So that’s what I’ve been doing, working as hard as I can so we can win a state championship.”
Clark plans on attending Florida’s Friday Night Lights this coming Friday.
