Jean’s Decision Coming Soon?

August 11, 2009 by Luke Stampini

Palm Beach Central defensive back Peniel Jean may have his mind made up on what school he is looking to attend by the time Halloween rolls around. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder has offers from Wisconsin, Maryland, Connecticut, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Buffalo, Marshall, Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State.

“Probably right after the visits I’ll probably make up my mind a week after,” said Jean on his timeline to make a decision.

Jean has one visit scheduled right now and has two other schools he may want to see as well.

“I plan to make the visit up to Wisconsin the 16th (of October), and then I’m going to visit Maryland before that and maybe Connecticut before that,” explained Jean.

The reason for Jean getting the visits out of the way as early as possible is the fact Jean will be an early enrollee in January.

“Yes, I’m going to graduate early. I have only a couple more assignments and I’m going to be done.”

Jean also discussed what he is looking for when deciding on what school to attend.

“Basically a school that shows they really want me and academics. Location doesn’t really matter, I just want to compete. Competition doesn’t matter because there is competition everywhere you go and you’re going to have to compete anyways.”

Jean stated that Maryland and Wisconsin are looking at him to play cornerback, while the rest want him as a safety. Jean and his Palm Beach Central teammates open the season with their Kick-Off Classic against Northeast August 27.
