Lamar Miller Update

August 17, 2008 by Luke Stampini

The hoopla surrounding Lamar Miller’s recruitment does not look to be subsiding anytime soon. The Miami Killian standout still has a long list of schools still vying for his services.

Florida State, Florida, Miami, West Virginia, LSU, Rutgers, and UCF are the schools that Miller listed still in the hunt. Does the 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back have any visits scheduled?

“I plan on going to Florida when they play Miami September 6th,” said Miller.

Miller mentioned Rutgers may be another school to get an official visit. He also let SoFLAfootball know of one school that will not get an official visit.

“I’m not taking an official visit to Miami,” said Miller.

According to Miller, Miami is still recruiting him, but he does not feel the need to visit the near by Coral Gables campus. A campus he has visited numerous times before. Miller stated that West Virginia was the school recruiting him the hardest, but let it be known that a decision is still a ways off for him.

“I’m probably going to make my decision after the season,” said Miller.

Miller’s combination of power and speed is the reason he is one of the top running backs in the state. He has set some lofty goals for himself this fall, but with his talent they are certainly attainable.

“For the upcoming year I’d like to get 2,000 rushing yards, 25 touchdowns, and have over 600 yards receiving,” said Miller.

Miller’s work in the classroom has been discussed ad nauseam on message boards across the nation. Miller worked this summer to improve his probability of qualifying academically for college.

“I took a Geometry class this summer that I got a B in,” said Miller.

That grade will replace a previous geometry grade boosting Miller’s core GPA. Miller is also scheduled to take the ACT in September.
