Perryman a Hot Commodity

The speed and athleticism Coral Gables linebacker Denzel Perryman possesses make him one of the most highly recruited prospects in the 2011 class. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound hit machine has offers from many of the nation’s top programs already.

“UM, Florida State, Florida, USF, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia, Boston College, Notre Dame, North Carolina, and that’s all I can think of right now off the top of my head,” said Perryman listing the schools that have sent written offers.

While the talented junior has numerous offers, he does notice some schools are making a more concerted effort to land him than others are.

“Give it Tennessee, UM, Florida, and Florida State,” said Perryman of who he felt were the schools that are currently recruiting him the hardest.

When asked if Perryman had any early favorites, he took a neutral stance.

“No, not really, they are all even. I just want to stay open minded and not say any favorites.”

While is not ready to name any favorites, he does have an idea of what he would like in the program he does choose.

“Academics, history, stuff like that,” explained Perryman. “If playing time is involved early, then hey, that’s a plus too.”

As mentioned before its Perryman’s speed and athleticism, that separates him from other linebackers. Perryman talk about that speed how he utilizes it on the field.

“My speed is good. I just base my game on playing downhill football, so I just got to beat the running back to where he’s going. Take that angle away from him.”

Perryman and Coral Gables face a tough first round test once the playoffs get underway in just over a week. The Cavaliers take on a stout Miami Northwestern squad, and Perryman has his key to winning the game.

“We just got to go out there and play disciplined football.”
