Wright Names Leader, has Visits
December 9, 2009 by Luke Stampini
Taravella standout Devin Wright once again led Broward County in rushing yards this fall. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound running back finished his senior campaign with 1835 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground.
Wright has only taken one official visit this fall and that was to Minnesota.“It was nice, real good,” said Wright. “It was Halloween when they played Michigan State.”
During his stay at Minnesota Wright was hosted by former North Broward Prep wide receiver Victor Keise. Wright also hosted a couple Golden Gopher coaches in his recently.
“Minnesota stopped by like last week, it was the head coach (Tim Brewster) and the running backs coach (Thomas Hammock). It went real good.”
With Minnesota being Wright’s only official visit and fresh off an in-home visit from Coach Brewster it does not come as much of a surprise who Wright named as his leader.
“Any leaders? Minnesota.”
Despite Minnesota being the favorite, this Friday Wright is still scheduled to make his second official visit with more coming in January.
“I’m suppose to go this week to Rutgers. There are some more coming in January, Michigan State, Michigan, and UConn.”
When questioned what he was looking for on his visit to Rutgers, Wright’s replay was to the point, “academics, environment, all the usual stuff.”
Before Wright flies out to Rutgers Friday, Thursday night at Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale he will take the field in the Broward County Athletic Association All-Star Game. Wright’s goals for the game are simple.
“Just get a lot of yards and carries, just ball out.”
