Dorsett Lands Offer
January 3, 2010 by Luke Stampini
St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Phillip Dorsett proved to be one of the more exciting players in the 2011 class this past season. It seemed Dorsett, who measured in at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds at Friday’s Under Armour combine, was good for at least one astonishing play per game. One school has decided to come through with offer to the talented receiver, the Ohio State Buckeyes.
“I like them,” said Dorsett on the Buckeyes. “They’re a little far away, but I don’t think location is going to be an issue.”
Dorsett says that he stays in contact regularly with the Buckeye staff, in particular the wide receivers coach.
“I speak to Coach (Darrell) Hazell at OSU often,” said Dorsett.
According to Dorsett, he is also hearing the most Miami, North Carolina, and Tennessee of late, but he has not received an offer from those schools to date.
Dorsett hauled in 30 passes for 594 yards and 9 touchdowns during his junior season and is a portion of what should be a talented air attack at St. Thomas Aquinas next fall. The Raiders return wide receiver Rashad Greene and quarterback Jake Rudock, along with Dorsett, all starters as juniors.
“We’ve got the offense coming back and a great passing game,” said Dorsett. “We’re hoping to get back to state.”
Dorsett is also a member of the track team at STA, and recorded one of the fastest forty times on the slow, wet track at the Under Armour combine with 4.49 seconds.
