Dunkley Names Two Officials
June 29, 2009 by Luke Stampini
Pahokee wide receiver Chris Dunkley has been a prospect on the move this summer, spending time at West Virginia and Georgia. The next stops for the 5-foot-11, 170-pounder include Florida State’s Seminole Showtime as well as Florida’s Friday Night Lights. This coming fall Dunkley has already penciled in two schools he plans on taking official visits to.
“USC and Ohio State,” said Dunkley. “I’ve never been there before. I want to get out there and check it out.”
The Trojans have offered and have been telling Dunkley they are missing a receiver with his skill set on their roster.
“They don’t have a lot of players like me, guys that can catch the hitch and score, stuff like that.”
The Buckeyes are a bit more intriguing visit considering they have yet to offer the talented 2010 prospect. Dunkley discussed his thoughts on the Ohio State program.
“I just really want to see the place and how it is. I would play there, so I just want to check it out. I guess they feel they don’t have a chance even though I’ve told them. They seem to think I’m staying in state. I’ve told them that I’m willing to go out of state.”
When posed the question of what schools Dunkley is most interested him he responded with the following.
“I like West Virginia, I like Florida, Florida State. I like Ohio State, I like USC, and I like Georgia. That’s not in any order I’m just naming schools off the top of my head.”
Early in the process Dunkley was considered a Gator lean, but in recent months he has taken a more equal opportunity approach to the recruiting process.
“I like Florida, but like I said they don’t get different treatment. I treat every school the same. When I first started doing this recruiting thing, Florida was my favorite. I do still like Florida, but I’m weighing my options.”
Dunkley states a decision from him will most likely come from him during the Under Armour All-American Game. Dunkley talks about the decision he made when choosing the Under Armour game over the Army All-American Bowl, and the game itself.
“It was between the Army and the Under Armour games. They both asked me. Nu’Keese (Richardson) told me the Under Armour was better, since you get more stuff and weren’t as strict as the Army.
“I’m just going to do my thing and it’s going to be a great feeling. Obviously, I’m going to be on the field with a lot of talent, and just see how it goes. Basically it’s going to be like a college game.”
