Gainer Joins Top RB’s in SoFLA

One running back that burst onto the scene this past fall was Miami Central’s Brandon Gainer. After running for over 1600 yards and 17 touchdowns in the Rocket’s pass happy offense, Gainer certainly has to be mentioned as one of the elite backs in South Florida.

“I think I had a pretty good junior year, but I think it could have been better,” said Gainer.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back is hearing from a number of schools and claims offers from West Virginia, UCF, and FIU. Gainer believes a new school is about to send an offer his way.

“Florida State, they haven’t sent me the paper work yet so it’s not official, but it will be soon.”

Gainer is a work horse and much has been made of his off the field work out regime. The talented back is looking to improve all aspects of his game this off-season, and plans to run the 1600m this spring for the track team. Gainer was to the point on his training.

“I work out all day really.”

This summer Gainer mentioned a few camps he would like to attend.

“I’m going to the Nike Pro Camp, I’m going to the UM camp and a couple 7-on-7’s, I think Florida State, Florida, and Kentucky.”

As spring ball inches closer and college coaches finish off their 2009 classes, look for universities to be yearning to ink this sturdy back.
