Geffard Twins Commit

December 9, 2008 by Luke Stampini

Isaac Geffard (left) and Jacob Geffard (right), or ‘The Twins’ as commonly referred to by teammates at Northeast High School, always wanted to continue their playing days in college together. It appears the two stand out safeties for the Hurricanes will do so and have selected what university will now become the new home of ‘The Twins’.

“We committed to Louisville,” said Isaac Monday night.

Jacob talked about the idea of playing college football with brother.

“It’s a dream come true man. I always dreamed of playing with my brother in college football. We’ve been playing with each other all my life and I can’t see us not going and playing football in college for one last time.”

Both brothers measure in at 6-foot-3, and around the 185-pound mark, and as of now the plan is to play both at the safety position for the Cardinals.

“I talked to Coach [Bill] Miller on Monday and basically he told me to be ready to play . . . He said he definitely could see me and my brother fitting into that scheme early,” said Isaac.

The idea of the brothers sticking together in college was important. However, do not under estimate the persuasion from a couple current Cardinals who are originally from the Ft. Lauderdale area.

“I heard a lot of good things about it from guys like Woodny Turenne [Stranahan], who I actually grew up with,” said Isaac. “He told me a lot of good things. I also got Patrick Grant [Boyd Anderson], he told me a lot of good things too.”

Linebacker’s coach Bill Miller may have been the primary reason the two chose Louisville in the end.

“Well, you know Coach Bill Miller is a very nice person,” said Jacob. “The relationship with me, my brother and Coach Miller is tremendous. I look at him like a father figure more than a coach. He really cares about my future.”

Now that the decision is in to attend Louisville, when will the two take an official visit to campus?

“Actually I’m going up there this Friday and Coach Bill Miller is coming down here this Wednesday to meet with me and my family,” said Isaac.

Northeast running back Travis Laurent is also scheduled to make the trip to Louisville for an official as well. Laurent, cousin of Turenne, currently has an FAU offer and could possibly get an offer from the Cardinals as well.

“I’m actually looking forward to seeing the environment, seeing where I’m going to spend the next four years of my life,” said Isaac about his upcoming visit to Louisville. “Just soak in the campus and see the college life, what I’m going to be doing when I get up there.”

Jacob was straightforward in what he was looking for on his visit.

“Just basically see how it feels up there, if it feels like home.”

With five players on the roster from South Florida, and a hand full more from other parts of the Sunshine state, feeling like home should come easy for ‘The Twins’.
