Gerald Christian 2010 Dwyer
August 21, 2008 by Luke Stampini
One of the more intriguing 2010 prospects in South Florida is Dwyer’s Gerald Christian. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound tight end and linebacker has a list of school recruiting him.
“I’ve heard from South Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Rutgers, Wisconsin, Miami, and UCF,” said Christian.
Christian’s size and athletic ability have college coaches in awe. He is put together like someone who has spent a couple of years on a college weight program, not a kid who just began his junior year of high school only days ago. The only question is where exactly is Christian going to play in college.
“Most schools are looking at me as a tight end, UCF is looking at me as a linebacker though,” said Christian.
Christian clocks in with a 4.7 forty time. Dwyer coaches utilize that speed as well as his size on seam routes on the offensive side of the ball. Time and time again Christian runs down the hashes beating linebackers for the reception. Once in the secondary, you almost feel sorry for defensive backs trying to take down Christian. He does feel he needs to improve in some areas of his game.
“I need to work on my explosiveness and my aggressiveness on the field,” stated Christian.
When ask about his personal goals for the up coming season Christian has this to say.
“I really want to win state, but for myself I’d like to score some touchdowns (laughter).”
Christian will have his chance to score some touchdowns August 28th when Dwyer visits a talented Delray Beach Atlantic squad in the Kick-Off Classic.
