Grimes a CB with Size

February 10, 2009 by Luke Stampini

Hollywood Hills cornerback Tony Grimes measures in at 6-foot, 170-pounds, something college coaches are impressed by. Impressed enough that Grimes has a host of schools in the SEC, ACC, and Pac-10 keeping close tabs on the 2010 prospect.

Grimes, who claims offers from Oregon and FAU, tested his skills Sunday at the Badger Sports Passing Camp on Miami Beach.

“It was some of the best players in the state of Florida you know,” said Grimes.

There certainly were some of the best in Florida with names like Lamarcus Joyner, Chris Dunkley, Ivan McCartney, and Brandon Gainer all in attendance.

“I evened out pretty good, I think I had pretty good D,” said Grimes on his day facing some of the elite prospects.

Grimes stated he feels he excels at reading what an offense going to do, but still wants to get better at learning the game of football. When talking college choices Grimes listed a few items on his checklist.

“Graduation rate, depth chart, coaches, I want to go to a winning program. I’d like to be part of a program like that, family aspects.”

Grimes plans on attending this Sunday’s Under Armour Junior Combine at Dolphin Practice facility in Davie, as well as the National Underclassmen Combine in the weeks to come.
