Miramar’s Ivan McCartney
September 9, 2008 by Luke Stampini
SoFLAfootball spoke with talented 2010 Miramar wide receiver Ivan McCartney, and discussed his recruitment.
Does the 6-foot-1, 175-pound wide out have any official offers this early in his recruitment?
“Yes I have Boston College, West Virginia, and Florida International University. They all came in on Tuesday (September 2nd),” said McCartney.
McCartney is one piece of an extremely talented receiving corps at Miramar that features seniors Stedman Bailey, Terrance Gordine and junior Dante Chambers. McCartney may very well be the most talented of the group. On jump balls McCartney utilizes his height and excellent body control to contort over defensive backs for the catch. McCartney also glides in and out of his breaks effortlessly, making him tough to keep up with throughout his route. McCartney stated what he hopes to accomplish by they time he graduates.
“Getting my weight up, raising my GPA to a 3.5, and just working harder on the football field,” said McCartney.
Miramar faces a couple of tough opponents the next two weeks, hosting Monsignor Pace this Friday and traveling to Plantation September 19. Check back with SoFLAfootball.com for more on McCartney and other recruits in the future.
