New Offer for Ely CB?
June 25, 2009 by Luke Stampini
Blanche Ely 2010 cornerback Jabari Price recently camped at North Carolina and it appears the Tar Heels are on the verge of sending an official offer. Price spoke with UNC Defensive Coordinator Everett Withers Thursday night who let him know it was a matter of time before he receives the official offer.
“Nobody is in the office right now,” said Price. “They (coaches) get back after the 4th of July. Then they said they would send the official paperwork.”
It was at the Tar Heels camp last when Price seemed to impress the coaching staff.
“They wanted to see what I could do on the field,” explained Price. “From there I did the 40 and we did defensive back drills where I excelled in those. Then we came right back and did one-on-ones where I got a couple of interceptions and two knockdowns.”
The visit to Chapel Hill impressed Price enough to move them to his group of favorites.
“My favorite right now would have to be North Carolina, Purdue, Minnesota, and Kansas State,” said Price.
Price also stopped by Kansas State recently, but all reports lead to the belief UNC and Purdue are the two schools that have separated themselves from the pack. Price recently talked to Purdue Head Coach Danny Hope, where Hope let him know he was a priority for the Boilermakers.
“I talked to Coach Hope and he said I was important to Purdue since he likes Florida guys. He’s looking for me to come in and make an impact right away since he has two corners leaving. He said he isn’t recruiting me to sit the bench.”
All four schools mentioned have a good chance of receiving an official visit from Price in the fall. Price said he will make a decision once he concludes all of his official visits.
It appears the last stop on Price’s summer tour is going to be Florida’s Friday Night Lights.
