Private vs. Public Game

January 7, 2010 by SFF Staff

Trainers R Us, Inc. will be hosting its 1st Annual All-Star Private vs. Public High School Football Game and Junior’s Football Combine Saturday January 9 at Monsignor Pace High school. The all-star game will showcase the talent of student-athletes who are high school seniors from Private and Public Schools from Broward and Miami-Dade County. Mario Smith, founder of Trainers R Us, is introducing this highly anticipated game, a “first of its kind”. Smith, a graduate of Monsignor Pace High School and Kansas State University, where he was an all-conference safety, is well aware of the rival between Private and Public Schools. Smith wants this game to showcase talent of those student-athletes that were overlooked throughout their high school years. The game will showcase players from Miami-Dade and Broward County.

The Private Team features Gulliver Prep quarterback Michael Strauss and Monsignor Pace wide receiver Isaiah Williams, while the Public Team features Palmetto defensive tackle Jermaine Brooks and Northwestern wide receiver Lorenzo Shinholster.

Coach Marc Berman, Hialeah High School, will present the game for the public team and Coach Earl Sims, Gulliver Preparatory, for the private team. The Private vs. Public All-Star Game will present a positive environment for all athletes who participate in the event through unity, commitment, and respect.

The Private vs. Public All-Star Football Game will kick off at 6:00 p.m. Each team will have 40 players participating in the game. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at practice sites for $6 and $8 at the gate on the day of the event.

A prelude to the game will be a Junior Combine with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. and the combine running from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There will be a combine limit of 150 players for juniors. The cost to attend is $25.00. The combine has attracted so much attention that out of town juniors are inquiring about the event. All juniors from near and far are welcome.
