Reynolds Lands Offers

Watch Douglas running back Orville Reynolds play, and you quickly find out the chief quality he brings to the field. The 5-foot-8, 175-pounder is also quick to point it out as well.

“Speed,” said Reynolds on his best attribute as a running back. “I don’t really play too many games. I run north and south. If I’m in a tight situation and I need to use something in my bag of tricks, make a move or something, I’ll use it, but most of the time I’m just speed.”

Reynolds claims running 4.3 second forties on more than one occasion. That speed is part of what has drawn early interest from a few colleges already.

“I have offers from Duke, Louisiana-Lafayette, Wake Forest, Colorado State, and I know people are coming in the spring,” said Reynolds.

Those schools not only like what Reynolds is capable of doing on the football field, they also like the fact he is a prospect they do not have to worry about in the classroom.

“I know it’s not just athletics but I know they both liked how my grades looked,” explained Reynolds. “I have 4.1 GPA weighted, a 3.7 un-weighted, and a 3.8 core. They like that too.”

When it comes time for Reynolds to decide what school he wants to attend, he knows he looking for a place that is creative in how they use him.

“What I like in a program is that they can find different ways to get their athletes the ball. Instead of just like trying to give me 25 carries a game or 20 carries a game, maybe 14 or 15 carries, throw me a couple passes, and return punts or kicks, stuff like that, just different ways to be a factor in the game.”

Look for Douglas to utilize Reynolds in such a many this fall, as the plan is to use him more in the passing game. While the football tradition is not a great one at Douglas, Reynolds hopes to help turn that around in his final season.

“We haven’t won the district since ‘91 or ‘92, with it being my senior season that’s something I’m trying to accomplish.”
