Plantation defensive end Ryan Shazier has been a name that has been talked about a lot in recent weeks. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete competed in the Under Armour Combine in Davie Sunday posting impressive numbers across the board. Shazier feels he still could have done better in some events.

“I think I did very well, but I think I could have done better in other aspects like the shuttle and my vert,” said Shazier.

Shazier posted a 4.59 second forty time and a 34.5 inch vertical jump at the event. It was during the football skills portion of the day, where Shazier got work at outside linebacker, the position he is going to transition to in college.

“I like it a lot,” said Shazier of the new position. “It’s a good move. I like playing in space.”

Shazier has seen several offers come his way over the course of his junior year, including some national powers.

“I have Florida, Florida State, Mississippi State, South Carolina, South Florida, Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.”

He also stated he is getting interest from Miami, UCLA, and LSU, despite not receiving an offer from any of the three. Shazier also feels the Hurricanes are close to extending an offer.

As spring practice for many colleges get started here in the next couple weeks, Shazier is planning on making stops at several in-state schools to catch one of their workouts.

“I’m going to try to catch Florida, Miami, South Florida’s and Florida State’s spring practices,” said Shazier.

Those spring practices as well as summer camps universities will help make Shazier’s decision, as he wants to get it out of the way by the end of August.

“I think I’m going to make my decision before my senior season so it doesn’t distract my team.”
