Southridge vs. Palmetto

Southridge faced Palmetto Thursday night at Tropical Park in what turned out to be an exciting 28-21 victory for the Spartans.
****SOUTHRIDGE****
Jermaine Kelson (pictured) 2011 QB/ATH 5′8″ 160: Kelson can flat out run. His speed and ability to escape from pressure won the game for Southridge tonight. Once Kelson hits the edge, it will be tough for anyone to catch him, as he showed on his 35-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Kelson would be a nice player to have in the slot or returning kicks/punts on the next level.
Andrew Johnson 2011 S 5′10″ 165: Johnson made numerous plays the first half coming on blitzes several times from his strong safety position. He was good in coverage as well. Johnson’s highlight came on one of his blitzes though. He wasn’t able to get to the quarterback in time on a quick slant, but he jumped up and batted the ball to himself. Johnson took the interception in for a touchdown to give Southridge the lead.
Gerrod Holliman 2011 S 6′1″ 180: Holliman came on strong the second half, making several tackles. He has good size, runs well, and just flied around making plays.
Others of Note: Ralph Williams 2010 LB, Christian Goods 2010 RB
Michael Dallas 2010 LB 5′11″ 200: Dallas came out of the gates like a beast and continued his strong play throughout the game. He came on a blitz up the middle to sack the quarterback forcing a fumble that set up a Palmetto field goal. The next series he scooped up a fumble and sprinted 40 yards for a touchdown. Dallas has great speed, looks to punish ball carriers when he tackles them, and gives great effort all game long.
Edwin Roberts 2010 RB 5′9″ 165: Roberts has good speed and has a little shake to his running style. He broke off a 25 yard run for a touchdown to tie the game late in the 3rd quarter.
Others of Note: Andre Revere 2011 LB
