Miami Dolphins 7-on-7

The Miami Dolphins Academy 7-on-7 took place in Plantation Tuesday and featured plenty of talented prospects from South Florida. The tournament included 31 teams from across the area with Glades Central and Boyd Anderson made it to the final four of the tournament. Miami Edison-Jupiter Christian and Belen Jesuit-Miami Jackson were fighting for the last two spots in the final four before the event was delayed until later in the week due to lightning and rain.

Below are a few of prospects that had strong showings at the tournament today.

Greg Dent (pictured) 2010 CB/WR 5′11″ 180 Glades Central: Dent was impressive on both sides of the ball and displayed some of the best hands in South Florida all day long. Dent was in double digits for interceptions on the day, and came up with one spectacular catch after another on offense.

Ivan McCartney 2010 WR 6′1″ 170 Miramar: There is not much you can say about McCartney that already hasn’t been said before, crisp routes, impressive leaping grabs, and shaking defenders in the open field. It was just another day at the office for McCartney.

Jabari Price 2010 CB 5′11″ 170 Pompano Ely: Price quietly had a good nice day for Ely. He was good in coverage and impressive closing speed. Price was one of the more fluid cornerbacks at the tournament today.

Steven Green 2010 WR 5′9″ 155 Boyd Anderson: Green has speed to burn and had his fair share of dazzling catches today as well. Green was able to get behind defenses with relative ease today.

Leron Thomas 2010 QB 6′1″ 180 Glades Central: Thomas often times sits back and chucks the ball deep to his stable of talented receivers, but today he showed the ability to zip the ball into the soft spot of zone defenses as well. He does have above average arm strength.

Demar Dorsey 2010 S 6′2″ 180 Boyd Anderson: Dorsey is flanked by one of the best cornerback tandems in South Florida with Cliff Coleman (2010) and Harmon Brown (2011), and Dorsey is able to roam the middle of the field and make plays. He came away with two interceptions that were tipped by teammates as he came swooping in.

Kelvin Benjamin 2011 WR 6′6″ 210 Glades Central: Benjamin was a match-up nightmare all day with his height. Anytime the Raiders were in a pinch they went to a jump ball with Benjamin and it certainly was effective.

Dion Hanks 2010 CB 5′9″ 175 Miami Edison: Hank is a corner that uses his physicality at the line of scrimmage to his advantage, but on a day jams were not allowed he responded well. He did a good job sticking to receivers for most of the day and came away with a few interceptions as well.

Avery Johnson 2012 ATH 6′2″ 175 Pompano Ely: Johnson is very big and athletic. He looked good as a receiver today, highlighted by a leaping grab over a smaller defensive back in the end zone.

Ernest Tynes 2010 WR 5′10″ 170 Booker T. Washington: Tynes was solid showed the ability to get behind defenses. With fellow wide receivers Quinton Dunbar and Jayvon Wrentz not in attendance, Tynes did his best to take advantage of the increased number of passes coming his way.

Paul Johnson 2010 OLB 5′10″ 180 Miami Edison: Johnson was around the ball a lot coming up with seven interceptions on the day.
