Allen is One to Watch at GDS

It can be tough putting up gaudy receiving stats at Glades Day. The Gators’ offense features an outstanding ground game, averaging 251 yards a game rushing. 2011 wide receiver Devonte Allen is a player to watch and has put up decent stats for a team that has only thrown the ball 39 times through three games.

“It’s going good, I have four touchdowns so far,” said Allen on the young season as the Gators start 3-0.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Allen has hauled in 10 passes for 175 yards, over half of Glades Day’s completions and passing yards on the season. Allen’s size at the receiver position is not his only asset.

“Speed and I can stretch the play every time I touch the ball,” said Allen who has clocked a 4.49 second forty.

Allen stated he wants to continue to improve his crispness on his routes and some lofty personal goals before his season end in what he hopes is a state title.

“To get 12 receiving touchdowns and over 800 yards receiving.”

Allen currently does not have any offers, but he has been hearing from the Tennessee Volunteers.

“It just was talking about coming to their home games, and how they are looking out for me this year and stuff like that.”

Glades Day (ranked 2nd in 1B) face Jupiter Christian (ranked #1 in 1B) Friday night in a highly anticipated match-up.
