Douglas vs. Dillard
September 25, 2009 by Luke Stampini
Douglas traveled to face Dillard Thursday night in what turned out to be a back and forth game. Dillard held came out on top this time with a 38-28 victory.
*****DILLARD*****
Otis Wright (pictured) 2011 RB 5′11″ 175: Wright struggled holding onto the ball, as he put it on the ground 4 times and turned it over twice. Despite the fumbles, the speedy running back broke free several times and rushed for 157 yards on 11 carries. Wright is has a slight build, runs a little upright, but there is no questioning his speed once he gets his legs stretched out.
Dwayne Williams 2010 WR 5′9″ 170: Williams came up big for a Dillard offense that has seen its struggles this season. The undersized receiver opened the scoring for Dillard with a nice catch and run of 75 yards, and he went up over a cornerback for a 35-yard touchdown grab in the 3rd quarter. Williams has excellent speed and athletic ability.
Jazz Moss 2010 CB 5′9″ 170: Moss was excellent on the defensive side of the ball coming away with big hits, batted balls, and in on some tackles from his cornerback spot. The play of the game for Moss and maybe Dillard happened when he caught a pooch kick and sprinted up the middle of the field for a touchdown as time expired in the first half. The touchdown cut the lead to 3 and gave Dillard plenty of momentum for the 2nd half.
Dwayne Montgemory 2011 OT 6′5″ 245: Montgemory looks to have added an inch since spring, and has an athletic frame to carry several more pounds. He moves well, but needs to continue to improve his technique to become a top offensive lineman.
Others of Note: Desmond Bozeman 2010 LB, Conard Johnson 2011 LB, Torrian Young 2013 DL
********DOUGLAS********
Orville Reynolds 2011 RB 5′9″ 170: Reynolds has a sturdy build and good speed. He broke free for a 50-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 35-yard run in the second. Other than those two long runs, Reynolds could not get going on the ground.
Travis Hernandez 2010 WR/CB 5′10″ 165: Hernandez rarely came off the field for Douglas, playing both ways. He ended the night with some big catches as a receiver, and was solid at cornerback.
Others of Note: Bryan Paull 2010 OL, Romaine Douglas 2012 DL
