SoFLAfootball Top 10 for 2010

January 9, 2009 by Luke Stampini

The best South Florida has to offer in 2010 is finally here.  This caps off a list of that included 110 prospects from Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade counties.

Every prospect on the list has been seen in person at a game, practice, or camp/combine by SoFLAfootball.  Without further adieu, the Top 10 prospects for 2010.

1. Matt Elam - 5′11″ 205 LB/S - Dwyer: Has great speed and strength. The fact Elam impacts the game at so many positions is what makes him so special.

2. Greg Dent - 6′0″ 180 S/CB/WR - Glades Central: Big time players show up in big time games and that is exactly what Dent did this season. His best position may be WR even with limited action there this fall, but CB is a serious option as well.

3. Torrian Wilson - 6′3″ 315 OT - Miami Northwestern: Absolutely mauler on run blocking, but has pretty good feet on pass protection. Did a great job dropping his rear, moving his feet and neutralizing the talented Dyron Dye in the state championship game.

4. Todd Chandler - 6′0″ 285 DT - Miami Northwestern: After missing much of the season with a knee injury Chandler quickly regained his sophomore form. Quickness off the ball and superb strength cause fits for interior lineman.

5. Lynden Trail - 6′7″ 205 DE - Miami Booker T. Washington: Not a better athlete lining up at the DE position in South Florida. Still needs a lot of work on his technique, but his tenacity getting after the quarterback get him by for now. Weight is a concern. VIDEO

6. Lamarcus Joyner - 5′8″ 160 CB - Southwest Miami: Pound for pound the hardest hitter in South Florida. Very loose hips lead to Joyner being very good in coverage. Height is Joyner’s only worry.

7. Brandon Linder - 6′4″ 270 OT - St. Thomas Aquinas: Can play C or either OT position. Has excellent technique, but he may be maxed out physically.

8. Chris Dunkley - 5′11″ 175 WR - Royal Palm Beach: May have the best release of any WR in South Florida and a decent pair of hands. Dunkley’s frame is starting to fill out and has some nice ‘shake’ to him once the ball is in his hands.

9. Richard Leonard (right) - 5′9″ 165 CB - Miami Killian: Great cover corner that supports the run very well for his size. Another corner whose small frame is a concern.

10. Quinton Dunbar - 6′3″ 175 WR - Miami Booker T. Washington: Possesses great height and hands.  Does not have blazing speed, but always seems to get behind defenses.
